Yifei Tang
Yifei Tang is an independent curator and writer currently based in Shanghai, China. She graduated from the Curating Contemporary Art program at the Royal College of Art in London in 2021. Yifei has curated exhibitions and projects at various institutions, including the artists’run organization “xiaozu”in Beijing, the Wind Art Center in Beijing, the Hive Center for Contemporary Art in Shanghai and Beijing, the Institute for Provocation in Beijing, and Furtherfield in London. Her writings have been featured in ArtReview and Heichi Magazine.
Yifei collaborates closely with artists, engaging in research, writing, and publishing, as well as conducting fieldwork. Together with these artists, she has initiated online projects and hosted numerous in-depth dialogues.
Her recent focus has shifted toward performative projects and fostering close collaborations with foundations and institutions to provide long-term support for artists. She explores themes related to the body, fictional bodies, social bodies and diverse, multilayered metaphors, viewing them as tools to unearth the ideological weight contained within societal and cultural constructs. Through this exploration, she aims to create alternative spaces for comparative narratives that can become actions and contaminations.
